When I joined Politburo, I was tasked with designing and building the marketing website for Ardmore Ceramics, a studio founded by Fée Halsted on a farm in the foothills of the Drakensberg Mountains.

The approach I took was deliberately pared back. Rather than layering on digital flourishes, I let the work speak for itself. Each page, each interaction, was designed to foreground the ceramics — the textures, colours, and forms that make the collection so distinctive. The restraint in design created breathing room, allowing the artistry to command attention and for the visitor to experience the craft in its own right.

Beyond the visual focus, the site was built to convey Ardmore’s story. The heritage of the studio, the philosophy behind the collections, and the connection to place all informed the layout and narrative flow. I wanted visitors to feel the care and precision that goes into every piece, almost as if they could sense the artist’s hand in the work.
By translating the studio’s vibrancy online, the website became more than a showcase. It became a space where Ardmore’s heritage, creativity, and craftsmanship could be appreciated in full, giving the ceramics room to shine while maintaining the integrity and warmth of the brand.
